What do we do?
Register the Future is a Literacy Script initiative dedicated to increasing local voter turnout, especially in immigrant and English-as-a-Second-Language (ESL) communities. By providing reliable, accessible, and non-partisan information about every candidate running in the 2026 midterm elections, we hope to increase turnout in these communities.
Sunny Pu, the founder of Literacy Script, was inspired to start this initiative after witnessing her own parents vote based on their friends’ recommendations, and not their own beliefs, because they struggled to understand complex political news in English.
A tiny sliver of the community often decides local elections: average turnout hovers between 15–27% nationwide, with some mayoral elections drawing under 10% of eligible voters. Among naturalized citizens and limited-English-proficient voters, turnout—especially in local elections— can be 20–25% lower than the general population.
Register the Future aims to change this by creating multilingual voter guides and simplified, trustworthy resources that empower all voters to cast informed ballots and make their voices heard.
